Siobhan Chamoun, Psy.D. |
My approach as a therapist aims to facilitate healing, insight, and growth by guiding and encouraging individuals to develop more introspective and compassionate relationships with themselves. When appropriate, I teach my clients coping skills to increase their tolerance with discomfort and help modify their perspective on the difficulties they face. The workings of my treatment approach borrow from many approaches including psychodynamic theory and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Ultimately, I believe that treatment is a unique experience for everyone who seeks help, therefore my approach is tailored based on the needs of each individual client.
As a native of this city, I hope to provide a welcoming space for different cultural backgrounds, communities and lifestyles, including an understanding of the trials and tribulations within the environment. I have experience working with individuals among a broad range of clinical issues including depression, trauma, anxiety, relationship and intimacy issues, identity issues, and family conflict. The populations I have assisted include adults, children and teens, survivors of sexual abuse, members of the LGBTQ community, families and couples. I am a graduate of Alliant International University where I earned an APA accredited Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health. In my role as a psychotherapist, I have extensive clinical experience working in private practice and community mental health settings. I also have experience administering psychological tests. I provide individual and couples therapy as a registered psychological assistant (PSB-94025195) under the supervision of Dr. Bennett Williamson.
